To select the correct remote control or keypad for your Genie garage door opener you only need to know a few things.
If the garage door opener model is an Intellicode model, you will only use products that say Intellicode in the name.
Excelerator models are Intellicode.
Intellicode models have a Learn Code Button and a Learn Code Indicator light on the garage door opener powerhead.
If the garage door opener is not Intellicode look at the GT-912 remote control and the GPWK-12 keypad. These use 9 or 12 pin settings to program them to use with your garage door opener. Look on the back of your garage door opener powerhead for code switches such as those pictured below:
